Miss Multinational Asia 2018 Kimilei Wangdali Mugford won’t be joining another beauty pageant anytime soon. For now, the Canadian-Igorot beauty queen will be busy with her singing career as she recently signed with Universal Records Philippines.
Mugford grew up in London, Ontario, Canada. His father is Canadian while his mother is Igorot.
“My mom is actually Igorot,” Mugford told me during the Miss World Philippines 2019 press presentation at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines on August 29, 2019. “Her family is from Bauko. , Mountain Province where my grandparents, my lola (grandmother) and my lolo (grandfather) raised 12 children.
While Mugford grew up in Canada, she can speak a bit of Kankanaey and a bit of Ilocano. She was crowned Miss Multinational Philippines 2018 in Pasay City, Metro Manila on October 7, 2018 and Miss Multinational Asia 2018 on January 21, 2019 in New Delhi, India.
On August 3, 2019, Mugford celebrated his 19th birthday. When I asked her about her future plans, she said, “I’m still so young to compete (again) and get into this industry right now.
“I would rather join contests when I’m, you know, in my mid-twenties, just because at that point in life I feel like I would be more experienced and better spoken and more developed in as a young woman, ”said Mugford. “And right now I’m working on my music career, in which I just signed (with) a music label.”
On August 23, 2019, Mugford displayed her singing skills at the 2019 Mister World Coronation Party at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City. She sang “Never Enough”, a song written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and performed by Loren Allred for the movie “The Greatest Showman”.
The future of Mugford’s musical career excites him. She said: “At the moment, I am only focusing on music and I keep my voice very active.”
In addition to singing, Mugford is also good at playing ice hockey. Watch my short interview with her here:
